Ethics Reform?
Is it just me or does anyone else find it slightly silly for lawmakers to be clamoring for stricter laws that "compel" them to behave ethically? Can you actually legislate your own morality? Or is this just an attempt to legislate the appearance of morality? Reminds me of the old adage-"you can't shine sh*t."

It is rather comical (in a pathetic way) to see each side tout its own proposed list of reforms as being the toughest/most comprehensive latest and greatest.
I figure that the lobbyists will lay low for a while and legislators won't take free trips/free tickets/free meals for a while. In a month or so, it will all blow over, and it will be business as usual again.
