It appears that the Category 4 winds blew all of the brains out of the mayor of the Crescent City-My personal rule is if you say something incredibly ignorant, your best move is just to hunker down until the furor blows over-the worst thing you can do when you fall down the "stupid hole" is to obtain a shovel and keep digging. What in God's name would possess anyone with a modicum of sense to say something as asinine as pining for the time when New Orleans regenerates itself into that shining "Chocolate City on a Hill." Hell, I feel guilty just listening to the song "White Christmas," and its lyrics are completely benign. Now he's trying to say he meant the type of chocolate that arises from mixing "dark chocolate with milk." I'm sure that makes lighter skinned African-Americans and Hispanics feel much better about themselves. Trent Lott got bum-rushed out of the House leadership because he tried to pay a clumsy compliment to a doddering old, burgundy-haired fool who could probably neither hear nor understand a word that was said. I can't even imagine what might have been his fate had he said something even half as blatantly racist as Count Chocula.
