Friends

I am blessed to have a group of great friends, many of whom are driving in this weekend from South Carolina and central North Carolina, to help me celebrate my 50th birthday. I am completely humbled by their friendship and their respective sacrifices to be here on the Carolina coast. To have 30 or so great friends around at the same time will be something I will never forget and the time we will have will hopefully be something they will not forget. There will be much photoblogging next week when the hangover passes. Till then, enjoy these random quotes on friends and friendship.

"A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked"

"Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for silence. A time to let go and allow people to hurl themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it's all over."

You meet people who forget you. You forget people you meet. But sometimes you meet those people you can't forget. Those are your 'friends.'"

"True friendship comes when the silence between two people is comfortable."

"Friends are helpful not only because they will listen to us, but because they will laugh at us; Through them we learn a little objectivity, a little modesty, a little courtesy; We learn the rules of life and become better players of the game"

"The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation that you ever had."
